So I was at my local breakfast burrito establishment this morning minding my own business enjoying a bacon and sausage breakfast burrito when the TV was changed to VH1 MTV and America’s Best Dance Crew was on. This really got me thinking, who actually watches this crap on these channels, and what do these shows have to do with music videos? VH1 has shows by the name of Flavor of Love, Rock of Love, and Celebrity Fit Club. While MTV has the aforementioned ABDC along with My Super Sweet Sixteen, The Hills, and A Shot at Love With Tila Tequila… WTF?!?! It’s bad enough just a couple weeks ago I was kidding with Kelly regarding the recent movie Step Up 2 Takin it to the Streets Electric Boogaloo, joking how I don’t believe there is some underground sensation of dance crews here in America and this must be a joke. I mean I could just see it break down like the scene from Boy n the Hood where the guy flashes his gun and then they all break out into a perfectly choreographed dance sequence! Talk about brilliance! Was Boy n the Hood the one with the guy named Pookie? I can’t remember, maybe that was Step Up 2, hell maybe it was Step Up and Menace II Society that I’m thinking of.
I just checked my facts and Pookie was the character that Chris Rock played in New Jack City! Anyway I still can hardly believe that there are actual dance crews that fight crime on the streets with their crazy dance moves, but I guess I have to be thankful for these crews since one of the crews has been fighting the deadly blood red river streets of Irvine, CA for the past 16 years!!!! We have Kaba Modern to thank for Irvine being the 4th safest city in the US. And with that I leave you a picture of the typical Irvine, CA family.

Had a great time tonight with Kelly and my parents here. We had already gone to the Auld Dubliner over in Tustin (review will eventually be posted) so we decided we’d check the Irisher out as well. They pretty much are the same, in fact the same group appear to own the franchise, these two just have different owners.
We started our night off with some drinks, I had a terrific Belgium White Beer called Hoegaarden which was very light and tasty. Kelly had a Magners Irish Cider which she didn’t care for, so I had to drink it, and my parents just some normal mixed type drinks.
Our food was delivered quickly, I would say it took about 10 minutes for our meals to arrive. My parents both got Fish and Chips which they both agreed were good. The fish was a pretty good amount and looked like it was freshly battered fish. Kelly got a traditional Irish meal of Rasher and Boxty, which is a type of Irish Bacon folded inside a potato pancake with cheddar cheese on top. She liked it although the rasher is pretty salty to have so much of. I settled with a traditional Irish American dish of Corned Beef and Cabbage. The corned beef had great flavor it was thinly cut and had just a touch of a Irish cream sauce on it that enhanced the flavor, especially when I mixed in some cabbage with my forkful.
Our waiter was real nice and came by our table a number of times to check on us. I was impressed especially since the place was so busy because there was a Anaheim Ducks game down the street at the Honda Center.
Sure the place isn’t a “real” Irish pub, heck it’s not even one of the touristy trap Irish pubs they have in Ireland, but it’s a nice place to go and hang out with some friends and have a couple Pints (20 ounce Imperial Pints, might I add!) of your favorite kool-aid.

So we are going to the big game tomorrow night at the Los Angeles Memorial Coliseum. It should be a lot of fun, although I’m not quite sure how much I will enjoy the other 114,998 people that are there. But I can say I was there. I’m even going to wear my Los Angeles Dodgers 1958 shirt that my best friend Doug got me years ago. We were thinking about taking one of the metro lines in LA to the Coliseum, but unfortunately there aren’t any lines that are close enough to walk to and form and feel safe at 10 PM at night. LA parking it is! I’ll be posting pictures of the event on Sunday. I’m charging up my Canon Digital Rebel XT right now.

So I decided to go get lunch today while I’m at work. The problem is I don’t really go out to eat lunch that much like I used to. I can count the number of times I’ve ate out for lunch in the past year on about two hands a one foot. So what do I do? Well I get in my car and I head a direction and try to find my next dining establishment!
It took awhile till I came upon PK Burgers, but once I did I knew it was the place I was going to eat at. First thing you notice is that it appears the owners know everyone that eats there, that is always a good sign. I forgot to bring cash with me so I had to ATM it on their little machine they have, it was a weird because you use the ATM, and then you bring the receipt over and they cash out whatever you have left from what you took out. Anyway I decided to get my usual burger fare food, Bacon Cheese Burger with grilled onions, along with an order of fried zucchini. Along with that I ordered a drink. I asked the lady for my cup and she actually said I could help myself and pointed behind the counter (not in a rude way, in a nice “you can help yourself to what you want” sort of way). I walked behind the counter and got my cup and filled my drink. Not too long after my food came out and it looked good. Two medium think pieces of bacon sticking out ever so slightly and thin cut breaded pieces of zucchini deliciousness! I realized I hadn’t got ranch dressing with my order and looked up on the counter and there it was just for the taking, as much as I needed! This is my kind of place, I don’t have to keep asking for every little thing I need.
Now on to the actual meal. Everything was cooked to order, the burger and zucchini we nice and hot. One think I noticed about the burger was the fact that it was a handmade patty, none of that perfect circle crap, it was jagged and had just the right amount of crispness to it. When I took a bite into the burger you could taste the freshness, the burger and grilled onions were hot and the produce had that just starting to warm up coolness to it that you except from a great burger. This was a great burger, probably one of the better ones I’ve had from a short-order burger joint. The zucchini was just the way I like it as well. I’ve had problems in the past with places that cut HUGE pieces of zucchini (quarters) burning my entire mouth because of the contained heat, that’s why I prefer thing cuts of zucchini that hold just enough heat to be fresh but aren’t 1000 degrees of destruction. Of course as most places the small order of zucchini was actually enough to feed a large family, I’d hate to see what a large order looks like, I probably had about 1/4 of my order. It was a quality meal and you can tell they take pride in what they put out on the table for their customers.
There are about 10 tables inside that fit 4 people each, and also there is outside seating as well. Everything is clean and the employees are real nice. This is a definite must if you are in the area and feel the need to eat. They had the traditional short-order burger joint fare you’d expect here in Southern California.
